Railway launches ₹8,574 cr new rail line

Ministry of Railways together with the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra entered into a pact for implementing a new Indore- Manmad Railway Line Project at an investment of ₹8,574.79 crore. The project will be implemented through Indian Port Rail Corporation on joint venture special purpose vehicle (SPV) model for which MoU has been signed between JNPT- Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Railways and state governments of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh for 362 km rail project. On commissioning, the mega rail project will reduce the distance from Mumbai/Pune to key central India locations by 171 km and it will pass through the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor nodes Igatpuri, Nashik and Sinnar; Pune and Khed; Dhule, Nardana and will bring in a cumulative net economic benefits of ₹15,000 crore within the first ten years of operations.
