Railway inks infra building JV with 17 states

Railway Infra Building Joint Venture
As many as seventeen states have agreed to form joint ventures with the Railways to fast track the planned rail and other infrastructure projects across their respective regions, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said, elaborating that by entering into a joint venture, the states will have ownership over projects and they will also facilitate land acquisition, which in turn will ensure building rail infrastructure at a faster pace across these states. He further added that a new scheme, which will be launched soon, will go a long way helping the rail users of various hues with waitlisted tickets as they will get the facility ensuring them berths in other trains going to the same destination, in case it is not confirmed on the train they had originally opted for. Passengers with ordinary tickets will be able to travel on trains such as Rajdhani if their waitlisted ticket is not confirmed on other trains.
