Railway hastens 240-km long rail line in MP

Indian Railway Projects
The much awaited Berhampur-Sambalpur rail line is set to become a reality with the recent approval of the Railway Board. The survey of the project is being undertaken in some areas to correct faults and it is likely to see the light of the day after 40 years. The 240 km railway line starts from Jagannathpur in Ganjam to Rairakhol in Sambalpur and will cover 734.92 hectares of farmland and 324.63 hectares of forests. In 2009, its cost was estimated at ₹2,956.45 crore, but is now expected to go up substantially. The railway line will benefit the tribal pockets as it passes through Kukudakhandi, Hinjilcut, Asika, Bhanjanagar, Mujagad, Boudh and Rairakhol. The locals have requested the state government to fast track the project.
