Railway clears Rs.156 cr for doubling track
The doubling of railway tracks on the Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge is all set to start doubling of track from Patliputra Junction to Pahleja Junction including a rail over bridge at an estimated Rs.156.09 crore. Once track doubling is complete, it would ease pressure on Patna Junction and Danapur railway station. Work of awarding the contract is in the final stages and the contract would be awarded by March and work will begin shortly thereafter, Danapur divisional railway manager of East Central Railway (ECR) Ranjan Prakas Thakur said. The work would be completed within 18 to 24 months. The train service on the Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister on March 12, 2016 and currently 20 pairs of trains pass through the bridge and more trains would be added after doubling of tracks.
