Railway clears ₹65,000 cr for suburban network

The Indian Railways has recently cleared a whopping amount worth ₹65,000 crore for a host of rail infrastructure projects on the suburban network in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, said Railway Minister, reiterating that the projects include new works and upgrading existing facilities on the busy network, which serves as the transport lifeline of the metropolis. Maharashtra government has been actively supporting these infrastructure projects, which seek to improve transportation and passenger amenities. The latest approvals will ensure upgrading the suburban railway system of Mumbai and its suburban areas. Given the pace at which the infrastructure works are being carried out, in the next four-and-a-half years, the suburban rail network of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai or Mahamumbai will see a complete metamorphosis. The Indian Railway will play a crucial role in achieving the target of making hassle-free and comfortable traveling in the metropolitan city.
