Railway approves double tracks on Ludhiana-Mullanpur lines

Railway
The Northern Railway Board has sanctioned the proposal for laying double-lane tracks to run more long-distance high-speed trains on the Ludhiana-Mullanpur-Ferozepur rail route. Construction of the ₹20 crore project will begin next month and will be completed within stipulated deadline under the supervision of a divisional-level engineer. There is a shortage of tracks for the passage of the freight and long distance trains running on the segment, and most of the trains are routinely late because a train coming from one side has to wait at a station to give passage to the crossing train, said station director, Ludhiana, Tarun Kumar. The engineering department of the railways has started surveying land for laying double tracks. In addition, the northern railway is also laying double tracks on the Dhuri railway lane.
