Railway approves ₹13,600-cr for stations' upgrade

In a bid to build world-class railway stations across the country, the railway minister has cleared ₹13,600 crore for upgrade of railway stations across 68 railway zones. The funds are being allotted to divisional railway managers who have been authorized to select one station each of their choice for investing ₹20 crore within their jurisdiction. The station development will include provision of better passenger amenities, installation and maintenance of lifts, seats, foot-over-bridges, drinking water, and good platforms. Some of the railway stations which are likely to undergo a complete renovation include Pune, Varanasi city, Ambala, Raipur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Mathura, Patna, Lonavala, Allahabad, Warangal, Delhi Main, Ahmedabad and Mysore stations, said official sources.
