Road-Project
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced an ambitious 44,920 km road construction and upgradation programme covering the entire state at a total cost of Rs 16,209 crore. The project, which includes roads in villages, towns and cities, will be completed by the end of next year.

Mann said a comprehensive survey was conducted to identify stretches requiring repair, widening or full-scale upgrades. All newly built roads will come with a strict five-year maintenance clause to ensure long-term durability and quality. He added that Punjab’s road network will be upgraded with world-class safety standards, including luminous lane markings and reflective edge lines to enhance visibility and reduce accidents.

The announcement marks one of Punjab’s largest transport infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, boosting economic activity, and ensuring safer travel across the state.
