rail lines
The local administration in Puducherry has called upon the railway ministry to expedite work on four rail projects connecting the Union Territory by laying new lines connecting Puducherry-Cuddalore, Chennai-Mahabalipuram-Puducherry-Cuddalore along the East Coast Road, Puducherry-Tindivanam and Karaikal-Peralam. The LG Kiran Bedi also asked the Railway Minister to help Puducherry, a popular tourist destination, to get better rail connectivity. She also called upon the heads of various departments to ensure the timely completion of the on-going projects and that managers and contractors have been asked to keep ready project details for all the planned infrastructure projects. The objective is to improve and sustain all-round progress and work together to avoid cost over-runs of projects and complete them within budgetary limits.
