PPPAC clears ₹27,514-cr infra projects

Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) has cleared infrastructure projects worth ₹27,514 crore under the PPP model, according to the Budget document. The push towards infrastructure projects is expected to boost capital expenditure by 1.9 percent of GDP by 2022-23. Out of these, one project is port development: four are railway stations, two are related to eco-tourism; and one for passenger train. The PPPAC recommended 56 projects with a total cost of ₹87,728 crore from FY2014-15 to FY 2018-19. Of these, 43 projects are road sector projects, three are of the port sector, eight are airport projects, and one each are Housing and Tourism sector projects.. Capital expenditure as a percentage of GDP is expected to increase by 0.1 percent in budgetary estimate 2020-21 over Revised Estimate 2019-20) to reach 1.8 percent mark. Apart from giving a major push to GDP growth, the projects will give a major push employment.
