PMC approves ₹4, 283-cr metro rail extension

Adding to the metro rail network of the city, Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) has approved completion of the proposed Swargate-Katraj- Chinchwad metro corridor extension at an investment of ₹4,283 crore. The extended corridor, among others, will have a 5.4 km underground metro route to be commissioned as quickly as possible. In this connection, Maha-Metro has already begun the civil work of the initial phase of Metro in Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad, 2 corridors that are supposed to cover 33-km long distance. The chairman of the committee, Hemant Rasne said that the committee has approved the DPR submitted by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) for the extension of a corridor from Swargate to Chinchwad but now the route has been extended up to Katraj. The committee has provided ₹233.75 crore for the Swargate to Katraj Metro corridor extension to start work on the project.
