Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Pujan of the Rs 6,950 crore Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project, covering the Kaliabor–Numaligarh section of NH-715. The 86 km project includes a 35 km elevated wildlife corridor through Kaziranga National Park, a 21 km bypass and 30 km of highway widening from two lanes to four lanes. Designed as an environmentally conscious highway project, it aims to boost regional connectivity while protecting Kaziranga’s rich biodiversity.

Passing through Nagaon, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts, the corridor will significantly improve access to Upper Assam, especially Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. The elevated section will enable safe and uninterrupted wildlife movement, reducing human-animal conflict and road accidents, while also cutting travel time and supporting passenger and freight traffic. Bypasses at Jakhalabandha and Bokakhat are planned to ease urban congestion and improve mobility for residents.

During the event, the Prime Minister also flagged off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains—Guwahati (Kamakhya)–Rohtak and Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)—enhancing rail connectivity between the Northeast and northern India.
