PM Narendra Modi Launches Rs 5,600 Cr Infrastructure and Energy Projects in Trichy, Tamil Nadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched development projects worth Rs 5,600 crore in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, aimed at strengthening infrastructure, energy supply and connectivity. The initiatives cover clean energy infrastructure, petroleum manufacturing and improved multi-modal connectivity through highways, railways and rural roads.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a Rs 3,700 crore City Gas Distribution network by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to supply piped natural gas to nearly nine lakh households and commercial establishments in the Nilgiris and Erode districts. The project is expected to deliver significant environmental benefits by reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner energy use.

He also inaugurated 370 km of rural roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, improving connectivity for villages and enabling better access to healthcare, education and markets.

The Prime Minister announced a highway bypass at Gangaikonda Cholapuram to divert heavy traffic away from the UNESCO-recognised temple built by Emperor Rajendra Chola, helping preserve the historic monument and enhance visitor safety.

Highlighting ongoing transport modernisation, the Prime Minister also referred to the redevelopment of eight railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and flagged off new train services connecting cities including Nagercoil, Coimbatore, Rameshwaram, Tirunelveli, Mayiladuthurai and Karaikkudi to strengthen tourism and regional trade.
