Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, a major highway project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Built at an investment of around Rs 12,000 crore, the corridor passes through key locations including Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Shamli and Saharanpur, improving regional connectivity and reducing travel time between Delhi and Dehradun.

The expressway is expected to significantly lower travel time and logistics costs, while facilitating faster movement of goods and passengers. It is also designed to boost trade, logistics, tourism and industrial development across the region.

A key feature of the project is the nearly 12 km elevated wildlife corridor, developed to ensure safe movement of animals and minimise environmental impact.

The corridor is expected to generate employment during construction and enhance connectivity to major tourist destinations such as Haridwar, Rishikesh and Mussoorie, strengthening the overall economic growth of the region.
