The Prime Minister during his recent visit to Maharashtra has laid the foundation stones for three metro projects, which will together add more than 42-km to the existing metro rail network in the city. The three corridors are 9.2 km long Gaimukh to ShivajiChowk (Mira Road) Metro-10 corridor, the 12.7 km long Wadala to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Metro-11 corridor, and 20.7 km stretch from Kalyan to Taloja Metro-12 corridor. The PM also laid the foundation stone for a 32-storey Metro Bhavan, which, on completion, will house the operation and control of 14 metro lines of about 340 km length. A large number of projects involving huge investments have been initiated in Mumbai, and infra projects worth Rs. 1.5 lakh crore are currently at various stages of implementation across the city.
