The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS NMP), launched in October 2021, has recorded significant progress in transforming infrastructure planning and development across India. Key developments include the creation of a robust geospatial platform, integration of approximately 1,700 georeferenced data layers, and the onboarding of 57 Central Ministries/Departments and 36 States/UTs onto the platform.
A major institutional reform under the initiative is the formation of the Network Planning Group (NPG), which evaluates infrastructure projects to ensure multimodal integration, inter-agency coordination, and last-mile connectivity. As of August 2025, the NPG has evaluated 293 infrastructure projects worth ₹13.59 lakh crore.
The initiative encompasses all key sectors, 8 Infrastructure Ministries, 22 Social Ministries, 20 Economic Ministries, and 7 Other Ministries. These include Railways, Road Transport, Civil Aviation, Education, Health, Power, Agriculture, MSME, Defence, Environment, and more.
