According to sources, the railway ministry is contemplating building half a dozen new railway lines in Arunachal Pradesh including Parshuram Kund to Walong, Pasighat to Tuting, Silapathar (Assam) to Bame, and from Bame to Aalo, Kamba, Kaying, Tato and Mechuka. These railway lines, including the proposed Tezpur to Tawang, are important for national security as Arunachal Pradesh is a sensitive state in the entire northeast belt. They will facilitate quicker moment of military and paramilitary forces in case of a crisis. A new railway route could be laid from Pasighat to Roing, and from Roing to Tezu and Chongkham. These rail lines are important for economic growth as well and will be completed within two years.
