Paradip Port Authority has started 2026 with a major milestone by achieving its highest-ever cargo handling for the month of January. The port handled 14.44 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo, surpassing the previous January record of 14.32 MMT set in 2024. The achievement strengthens Paradip Port’s position among India’s leading major ports and highlights the steady expansion of its operational capacity.

The record performance is driven by continuous infrastructure upgrades, efficient processes, and improved coordination among terminals and stakeholders. The rise in cargo volumes also reflects the resilience and commitment of the Paradip Port workforce, which has maintained strong productivity despite growing demand and logistical challenges.

Shri P L Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, credited the milestone to the strategic guidance of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterays Sarbananda Sonowal and the dedicated efforts of officers, employees, contractual workers, and port stakeholders. He said that with a continued focus on modernisation, capacity enhancement, and operational excellence, Paradip Port remains committed to supporting India’s trade growth and economic development.

The record January performance sets a strong foundation for the year as Paradip Port advances toward its goal of becoming a world-class mega port.
