Panaji smart city gets Rs. 1,099.94cr

In order to build a classic city in the state capital of Goa, the council of the corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has recently cleared Rs 1,099.94-cr under the Smart City Mission, Commissioner Sanjith Rodrigues said adding that the St Inez Creek is a political-socio-economic problem and not a technical issue and that the corporation and its engineers cannot accomplish the task of its beautification because the Creek is a part of the SCP. In the meeting spearheaded by city Mayor Surendra Furtado, the proposal, which has been prepared for a period of five years and comprises Rs 547.11 crore as the state and central share of which Rs 396.83-cr to be generated through public-private partnership. Similarly, a sum of, Rs 88.92-cr to be funded through central government schemes like Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). The SCP includes area-based developmental initiatives as also pan city initiatives and that the civic body is also trying to raise funds for the Smart City exercise through the Swadesh Darshan scheme (SDS), of the Union Ministry of Tourism, he added.
