Odisha bats for Bridge on Brahmani River

The state government in Odisha has recently requested the Centre to take up the construction of a second bridge over the river Brahmani on the National Highway 143 to replace the dilapidated existing one, said official sources, claiming that an old and narrow two lane bridge over river near Panposh of Rourkela, connecting Biramitrapur and Barkote. In this connection, the CM has written to Union minister for shipping, road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari informing that the old bridge is in a distressed condition and is not at all adequate to meet the requirement of safe and swift movement of the people and freight as it carries a heavy and congested mining and commercial traffic.
