Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates & Lays Foundation for ₹2,000 Cr NH Projects in Karnataka

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 9 National Highway (NH) projects spanning 88 km with a total investment exceeding ₹2,000 crore in Sagara Town, Shivamogga, Karnataka.

A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Sharavathi Bridge, which is set to boost connectivity between the Malnad and coastal regions, while also improving access to prominent pilgrimage destinations like Sigandur Chowdeshwari and Kollur Mookambika temples.

The 47-km Bidar–Humnabad section of NH-367 has been widened to significantly reduce travel time between Kalaburagi and Bidar districts. Meanwhile, restoration works on the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH-75 are aimed at ensuring safe and continuous traffic flow along the critical Mangaluru–Bengaluru corridor, especially during the monsoon.

Additional infrastructure upgrades include a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Shahabad and a bridge over the Kagina River on NH-50, which will strengthen connectivity between Kalaburagi and Raichur.

Road safety enhancements on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Access-Controlled Expressway were also inaugurated, which are expected to support faster, safer, and more fuel-efficient travel between Karnataka and Kerala.
