Nitin Gadkari Highlights India’s Transition to Green Fuels & Safer Roads at 84th Indian Roads Congress in Bhubaneswar

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari addressed the 84th Annual Session of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) in Bhubaneswar, emphasizing India’s transition from a fuel-importing to a fuel-exporting nation through the production and adoption of ethanol, methanol, bio-LNG, CNG, and green hydrogen.

Shri Gadkari reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to road safety and sustainable infrastructure, highlighting the integration of advanced engineering standards, intelligent transport systems, and safety awareness initiatives to ensure efficient and secure mobility across the country.

He underscored the pivotal role of road engineers in designing accurate Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and delivering hassle-free, safety-assured highways. The minister also noted that the use of bio-bitumen and recycled plastic waste in road construction is enhancing durability, reducing costs, and promoting eco-friendly infrastructure.

Reiterating his vision, Shri Gadkari said the government’s mission is to build world-class, innovative, and sustainable infrastructure that drives economic growth, creates employment, and strengthens India’s self-reliant and resilient future.
