The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) recently bagged the work for 4-laning of Balachera–Harangajao section of NH-54 at an investment of ₹519.30 crore. The project, which has been awarded on the engineering procurement and construction model, got severely affected by landslides, hill movement, slips failure and sinking. Looking into the gravity of problem, it has been decided to adopt for split 4-lane construction (2-lane on new alignment and 2-lane along existing one) for the affected section for which M/s RITES Ltd. has been engaged by NHAI for the preparation of Detailed Project Report and that the repairing and maintenance of existing NH is currently in full swing, the Union transport minister said.
