Ensuring smooth flow of vehicular traffic on NH-6 connecting the city with Bhandara and Raipur, the NHAI plans to construct five more flyovers including the widening of the NH-6 upto Saundad at an investment of Rs. 900cr. With the announcement of the new projects, the initiative will take the total number of flyovers to 19 on this 110km stretch. Most importantly, 13km stretch before and after Bhandara will be widened to four-lane and a flyover will be constructed to bypass Bhandara town. Prior to this, flyovers came up at Mahalgaon, Gumthala, Wadoda, Marodi, Kharbi, Borgaon, Jawahar Nagar, and Shahapur before Bhandara, at Dhargaon, Gadegaon and Kanadmoh before Lakhani, and at Pimpalgaon Sadak and Mundipar before Sakoli, NHAI Project Director, Shriram Mishra said, informing that six types of works will cost around Rs. 900cr. A 3 km flyover will be constructed from one end of Bhandara town to the other, bypassing the town. It will be converted into four-lane and the two works will be a part of one package that is estimated to cost around Rs. 500cr. Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared and the nodal agency is all set to start the tendering process in the next few days, he added.
