NHAI has speeded up the ₹30,000 crore Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway project. Of the total investment, ₹10,000 crore will be spent by NHAI on a 300 km highway stretch. Punjab will offer land free of cost and the acquisition process is set to start shortly. The expressway will seamlessly connect Delhi to Katra in J&K through Amritsar via an access-controlled expressway of approximately 600 km. The expressway is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase 1. A consultant for preparation of the DPR has been appointed. Punjab CM has also sought an early execution of the Shambu-Jalandhar (older NH-1), Ludhiana-Talwandi Bhai Section of NH-95, and has demanded termination of toll collection on NH-44 as the work on the same has not been completed. About the four-laning of the Kharar-Banur-Tepla road on NH-205A, the CM urged the authority to initiate four-laning of the road without further delay.
