NHAI-PFC in pact to build green highways

NHAI Green Highways
In order to build lush green national highways across the country, the National Highways Authority of India has recently inked a pact with Power Finance Corporation (PFC) for launching green highway initiative and planting trees along NH -7 in Nagpur area of Maharashtra. The pact was signed between PFC and NHAI in the presence of Chairman – NHAI, Raghav Chandra; Executive Director – PFC, G S Ghai, and other senior officials of PFC and NHAI also graced the occasion. In this connection, the National Green Highways Mission (NGHM) functioning under NHAI has collaborated with PFC for plantation work covering Borkhedi-Wadner & Khatara-Kelapur 87 km stretch. Initially, PFC has provided financial assistance of Rs. 13 crore for the plantation and five-year maintenance under its CSR funds. The event marks the first collaboration with the NGHM - NHAI under their 'Adopt a Green Highways' Program, which engages corporate, public sector units, governmental organisations, institutions and individuals under CSR and Public-Private Partnership for developing green corridors along national highways.
