NHAI kick-starts Rs. 963-cr stalled project

Chhapra Hajipur Highway
Keeping the on-going aggressiveness to kick start the long pending projects in the road and highway sector in mind, NHAI is all set to start the construction work on the NH stretch from Chhapra to Hajipur in Bihar. The project which was awarded in 2011, was earlier scheduled to be completed by December in the current financial year, is being executed by the Madhucon Projects. The road project which is being constructed, got delayed due to various reasons including land acquisition but with the renewed efforts of the transport ministry and NHAI, the 67-km long project awarded on the BOT annuity model would now be commissioned in the next one year. It may be recalled that the original cost of the mega road project was Rs. 575-cr in 2011 but now needs another whopping sum worth Rs. 388-cr to complete the project, said official sources.
