The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has floated a tender worth Rs 313.89 crore for long-term remedial measures to curb river erosion and flooding along the Kullu–Manali stretch of the Kiratpur–Manali section (NH-03, formerly NH-21) in Himachal Pradesh.

The project, to be executed under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode, includes protective works at 12 vulnerable locations—RC-18, A-RC-22, RC-20, A-RC-25, A-RC-26, A-RC-24, A-RC-19, A-RC-20 & A-RC-21, RC-21, RC-23, and RC-25.

The initiative aims to safeguard the highway's critical infrastructure from frequent flooding and riverbank erosion caused by the Beas River. Once completed, it will enhance road safety, ensure uninterrupted connectivity, and improve the long-term durability of this key national highway corridor, which is vital for tourism, trade, and local communities in the Himalayan region.
