NHAI hastens ₹1,925-cr six-lane bridge over River Brahmaputra

NHAI has hastened the ground work, including soil testing, for the upcoming six-lane bridge over River Brahmaputra which will connect North Guwahati areas to the southern fringes of the city at an investment of ₹1,925 crore. The bridge is expected to be 1600 meter in length with a six-lane carriageway. The length of the main bridge will be 1240 meter extra-dosed cable type with a Y-arm of 360 meters. Once completed, it will reduce travel time between the North and South bank from 90 minutes to 15 minutes. The starting point of the corridor will be at Bharalumukh on the south bank of the Brahmaputra and the culmination point will be at NH-31 near Gauripur Junction on the North bank of the Brahmaputra. The PM had laid the foundation stone a couple of months ago, said official sources.
