NHAI Enhances Road Safety with Rajmarg Saathi Patrolling Vehicles

In a move to strengthen highway patrolling and improve road safety, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced upgraded Incident Management Services with forward-looking Route Patrolling Vehicles (RPVs), branded as ‘Rajmarg Saathi’. These advanced RPVs feature enhanced design, functionality, and technology specifications aimed at improving emergency response and overall highway management.
The new RPVs replace the previously open rear space with a closed cabinet system that includes dedicated shelves for organizing emergency equipment. This upgrade ensures quick access to tools, reducing delays during critical situations.
A standout feature of the ‘Rajmarg Saathi’ RPVs is the integration of a dashboard camera with AI video analytics. This technology captures and identifies road distresses such as cracks, potholes, vehicles, pedestrians, and infrastructure assets. The collected data will be updated weekly and integrated into the NHAI One application for efficient road maintenance.
To maintain operational efficiency, RPVs will be replaced after three years of service or upon completing 3,00,000 km of operation. The vehicles will also feature enhanced branding for greater visibility, ensuring they stand out as dedicated Highway Patrol Services on National Highways.
Further, the uniforms of patrol personnel have been redesigned with brilliant blue colors, reflective stripes, and authority logos to provide a distinct and professional appearance, making personnel easily identifiable.
With advanced communication tools, organized equipment, and improved visibility, ‘Rajmarg Saathi’ vehicles are set to minimize traffic disruptions, enhance road safety, and improve the overall travel experience for National Highway users.
NHAI remains committed to maintaining safe and efficient highways across the country, ensuring seamless incident management and reliable traffic flow.
