NH-234 awaits Rs. 239-cr concrete upgrade

The Bangalore division of the national highway is all set to take up the 72-km stretch of the NH-234 in Charmadi Ghat covering areas between BC Road and Kottigehara entailing an investment worth Rs. 239cr, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the department, said adding that the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee has inspected the stretch recently and concluded that the remaining portion of the road between BC Road and the foothills of the Charmadi Ghat would be upgraded as asphalt road. The state authorities have sent the proposal to the Union government for approval wherein the proposal included widening of the 15-km stretch to 8.5 m from seven metres currently and that the construction work would be taken up shortly after the second phase of the Shiradi Ghat widening works are completed.
