NEC approves ₹188-cr Longleng-Tuensang road upgrade

The North Eastern Council (NEC) has sanctioned ₹188.61 crore for upgrading the 51-km long Longleng-Tuensang road under North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS). Secretary Ram Muivah informed that ₹75 crore has been released as first installment to the state government, enabling the state PWD to complete the formality at the earliest and start the road construction. Various road constructions have been taken up in Eastern Nagaland areas keeping in mind that ENPO areas were connected with the rest of districts of the state. A 46-km road construction has been completed from Nokzung in Mon district to Longding in Arunachal Pradesh, which was constructed under NERSDS and another has been initiated in Tuensang district funded by the World Bank. Muivah said that NEC has also been implementing other projects for the development of Eastern Nagaland areas.
