NDMC Starts Khan Market Redevelopment; Foundation Laid for Middle Lane Upgrade

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has begun a major redevelopment of Khan Market with the foundation stone laid for the improvement of the market’s Middle Lane. Linking the initiative to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Chahal said the Budget 2026-27 prioritises the redevelopment of key markets, with Khan Market receiving “special and sustained attention”.

Chahal stated that under the vision of ‘Developed India, Developed Delhi and Developed NDMC’, the market is being upgraded in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development model. The Middle/Back Lane project will include granite flooring and integrated service ducts for civil and electrical utilities. The work is part of Phase-II of Khan Market upgradation and carries a cost of Rs 1.21 crore. The project is scheduled for completion within three months, by April 2026.
