NCRTC floats tenders for Delhi-Meerut rapid rail project

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has recently floated tenders for Delhi-Meerut Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS).The scope of work in the project involves designing and construction of tunnels in a portion of the project which lies in Delhi starting from the New Ashok Nagar Ramp in New Delhi to the Sahibabad Ramp of Ghaziabad. This is a 5.8 km long route and consists of the underground Anand Vihar RRTS station. While the final DPR for the extended corridor is yet to be prepared, GDA, which is also mulling options to construct the Sahibabad metro station near the RRTS station of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut regional rapid transit system (RRTS). NCRTC is developing the RRTS project in the NCR to serve as transport hubs with direct connectivity to metro stations, railway stations as well as ISBTs. The Anand Vihar RRTS station will be built underground via cut and cover method. Of the entire corridor length, around 11.53 km will be built underground, most of which will be in Meerut area. The work on setting up of a stabling yard at the Jangpura station has also begun where the station will serve as a master operation control centre for all the three RRTS corridors of Phase-1 such as Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar and Delhi-Sonipat-Panipat.
