The Air India Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility (MRO) is set to get a facelift with an investment of ₹125 crore for an additional hanger with a capacity to induct two aircraft at a time. The hanger would have an aircraft painting facility, a scrap yard, new office and maintenance complex etc, informed Safety Manager of the Air India Engineering Services Ltd.(AIESL), Shrey Gupta. The aim is to undertake aircraft maintenance which is being done in Singapore and Sri Lanka. According to him, there is a growing demand for MRO services, including spares and overall maintenance. The MRO, operated by the Air India, is part of its engineering services subsidiary, AIESL. Chief Maintenance Manager AIESL, Prasanth Gosavi informed that the facility has already signed a contract with Spice Jet and a bid has been submitted for Fly Dubai and Oman Air.
