The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has invited online global e-tender for the Bhopal Metro Rail Project. The scope of work includes the design and construction of eight elevated metro rail stations, including the viaduct portion within the stations and transition spans on either side of the stations—AIIMS, Alkapuri, Habibganj Naka, Habibganj, M.P Nagar Zone-1, DB City Mall, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Subhash Nagar. The project is estimated to cost around ₹421 crore with a completion period of 847 days from the start of work.
Phase-1 of Bhopal Metro entails the construction of two corridors having 28 stations with a total length of 27.87 km. MPMRCL had applied for loans from the European Investment Bank (EIB). EIB has agreed to fund around ₹3,430 crore for Phase-1 of the project. Dilip Buildcon Ltd is carrying out the construction of 6.22 km viaducts from AIIMS to Subhas Nagar. For this, a work order of ₹247.06 crore was issued to the firm in October 2018 by MPMRCL.
