MP launches ₹6,941-cr twin metro rail corridors

The CM of MP has laid the foundation stone for the Bhopal Metro Project which comprises two corridors of 27-km. Its construction in the first phase is slated to the commissioned by 2022 at an investment of ₹6941 crore. To start with, 27.87 km of lines will be laid with twin corridors. The first corridor of 14.94 km starts from Karond Circle to AIIMS and another track of 12.88 km is being laid from Bhadbhada Chauraha to Ratnagiri Square. 28 stations will be the elevated sections (of 26.08 km) and the underground section will be 1.79 km and will have 2 stations. The metro rail will crisscross AIIMS, Subhash Nagar Underpass, Aayakar Bhawan, DB City, Sargam, Habibganj Station, DRM Office, Alkapuri and will touch the starting point. The soil, pile and design testing have been carried out for the load capacity in the ground. The technical background work has also been completed and the project is set to be completed by 2023.
