In its quest to fast track construction work in the road and highway sector, the government has recently started work on five expressways including Delhi-Meerut, while other projects are being launched shortly, Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari said, elaborating that the ministry is constructing 12 new express highways including eastern peripheral expressway and Delhi-Meerut expressway and they are to be completed by August this year. Similarly, construction work will begin on Vadodara-Mumbai project this year itself and alignments for Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Ludhiana- Amritsar-Katra expressways have already been finalized. The other projects include 250 km Bangalore-Chennai expressway besides Hyderabad-Vijayawada and Nagpur-Hyderabad projects.
