The Union transport minister has laid foundation stones for two national highway projects in Karnataka entailing an investment of ₹323 crore. The scope of work in these projects involves the construction of an elevated corridor at Rani Chennamma Circle in Hubballi city and construction of four-lane road and minor bridge near Dastikoppa Kalaghatgi Tq on NH 63. The projects will boost the socio-economic development of Hubballi and Dharwad and will strengthen the road network in the region. An elevated corridor at Rani Chennamma Circle and four-laning of NH near Dastikoppa village in the Hubballi Dharwad area will reduce travel time from railway junction to airport, besides making the road journey safer and reducing pollution. Similarly, the four-laning of the road in Dastikoppa village will ensure hassle-free movement of the vehicular traffic between Dharwad and Karwar cities, the known industrial and educational hubs of the state.
