Union roads transport minister Nitin Gadkari recently laid the foundation stones for 226-km long road project entailing an investment of ₹3,580 crore in Madhya Pradesh. Shortly after laying foundation stone, he revealed the work on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway passing through Jaipur, Bhopal-Indore Expressway and also on the Chambal Expressway will be started very shortly. More than 13,000 km long roads worth ₹5,000 crore have been built in the state jointly by the Union transport ministry and the state governments. Prior to the foundation stone laying ceremony, the transport minister also inaugurated the upgraded Shivpuri-Guna, Guna-Biora, Lakhanadoan-Chhapara roads commanding a length of 188 km and built at an investment of ₹1,902-crore, said an official spokesperson.
