MoRTH kick-start ₹2,630 cr highway projects

Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stones of multiple national highway projects at an investment worth ₹4,239 crore in Chhattisgarh, State CM said in a statement, adding that the projects included 92 km Raipur – Durg Bypass on NH 53 involving an investment of ₹2,281 crore. Apart from the construction of the highway in question, the work also includes four flyovers to be built in this section at the cost of ₹349 crore. The minister also dedicated to the nation 150 km long Aarang – Saraipali Road on NH 53 which has been built at the cost of ₹1472 crore and widening of 27 km Raipur – Durg on NH-53 at a cost of ₹48 crore. Notably, roads and highways measuring a total of 950 kms would be developed under Bharatmala project in Chhattisgarh. The Central Government has already declared 290.08 km of roads in Chhattisgarh as new National Highways during 2017-18.
