MoRTH clears contracts worth Rs.1,170 cr

Adding to the road network of the hill state, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has recently approved the rehabilitation and upgradation of two major roads in the Jammu and Kashmir, said sources, elaborating that the Jammu - Akhnoor section of National Highway number 144A from 4thTawiBridge to Hanuman Chowkshall will be upgraded to four lanes with paved shoulders under EPC mode. The project road is a part of newly declared National Highway Jannu-Akhnoor-Poonch with a length of 30.097 km and involving an investment of Rs.914.48 crore. Similarly, the Chenani - Sudhmahadev section of National Highway 244 shall be upgraded to two lanes with paved shoulders also under EPC mode. A tunnel of 4.5 kms has also been proposed between Sudhmahadev and Goha village to make the re-alignment operational. The total length of this stretch is 16.99 km and entailed an investment worth about Rs.255.90 crore.
