MoRTH
The widening to six-laning of the 51-km Anandapuram-Anakapalle road—via Pendurthi and Sabbavaram—has picked up pace with the centre government clearing ₹3,000 crore for the project. The road widening is to be executed by Dilip Buildcon under the Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme, informed project director, NHAI, Vizag unit, P Shiva Shankar. About 330 hectares—including 190 hectares of private land—is required for the project which will be completed by July 2021. The porject will be a boon for commuters in Vizag as it will clear at least 40 percent of the traffic congestion on the stretch, and heavy vehicles plying on Srikakulam road to Vijayawada route will be diverted at Anandapuram to reach Anakapalle without entering the Vizag city.
