MoRTH approves six-lane Nashik-Pune Highway project

The Union Transport Minister has approved construction of the six-lane Nashik-Pune national highway. Once completed, commuters to Chakan, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) via Chandani chowk and Nashik road will be benefitted. The minister directed officials of NHAI to float tenders for the mega road project as quickly as possible while the Union minister held a meeting for sorting out issues in the Nashik to Pune highway and instructed the Pune district collector and NHAI officers to start the land acquisition process.‖ The DPR is ready for the highway between Moshi (Indrayani bridge) to Rajgurnagar. Plans are also afoot for extension of the metro corridor between Nashik phata to Chakan, said Brijesh Dixit, managing director, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation, who assured that the planning process to start the metro work along with NHAI's six-laning of road construction is underway as a large number of foreign investors are willing to invest in the Chakan and Ranjangaon MIDC industry areas.
