Ministry of Power Launches Task Force for India Energy Stack

The Ministry of Power

The Ministry of Power has launched a task force to develop the India Energy Stack (IES), a transformative initiative aimed at building a unified, secure, and interoperable digital public infrastructure for the energy sector.

As India advances toward its $5 trillion economy goal and Net Zero commitments, the energy sector is witnessing rapid growth in renewables, electric vehicles, and consumer participation. However, fragmented systems and limited digital integration continue to pose challenges.

The proposed India Energy Stack will serve as a standardised and open platform to manage, monitor, and enable innovation across the electricity value chain, laying a robust digital foundation to drive efficiency, transparency, and scalability in the sector.

Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon'ble Minister for Power, said: “There is an urgent need for developing robust Digital Public Infrastructure in the power sector to manage the country’s rising demand, ensure grid stability, and empower consumers. DPI, such as India Energy Stack (IES), will play a vital role in integrating renewable energy, enhancing DISCOM efficiency, and delivering transparent, reliable, and future-ready power services. What Aadhaar did for identity and UPI achieved for digital payments, the India Energy Stack will accomplish for the power sector — unlocking seamless, secure, and consumer-centric energy services for every citizen.”
