Mining sector has secured ₹16,000 crore investment commitment in the recently concluded Vibrant Gujarat Summit, where as many as 1,000 MoUs were signed in the mining and mineral-based segment alone. Four of the five big ticket MoUs were signed by Adani Cementation for a cement/clinker plant at Lakhpat in Kutch entailing an investment of ₹4,500 crore. Swan Construction signed ₹5,000 crore MoU to set up a cement/clinker plant, a captive power plant, and building allied infra in Kutch. The project would entail a long-term supply of limestone agreement with GMDC, which is also a promoter of Swan Energy, and is developing a floating LNG terminal in the state at a cost of Rs5,900 crore. Likewise, Sanghi Cement signed an MoU to invest Rs1,500 crore for expanding its Sanghipuram plant capacity from the current 4 MT to 8.6 MT. JSW Cement proposed a Rs1,000 crore investment for a cement plant in Kutch. Safal Constructions will set up a 1,600 crore export centre for granite in Mehsana. The company develops high-end residential and commercial projects. The Central government owned MOIL inked a ₹250 crore MoU for manganese exploration in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, and Panchmahal areas of the state.
