MGCPL Completes 1st OWG Bridge for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project
M. G. Contractors Pvt. Ltd. (MGCPL) has successfully installed the first open web girder (OWG) truss bridge for Package P1(C) of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project. The bridge, named GAD-31, spans the Indian Railways’ main-line track between Kanjari Boriyavi and Uttarsanda stations in Gujarat's Vadodara division.
Measuring 99.6 meters in length and weighing around 1486 metric tons, the bridge was positioned with precision at a 62-degree skew relative to the Delhi-Mumbai railway line. Manufactured by the Goodluck India group in Gujarat, the bridge stands 14 meters tall and is 14.3 meters wide.
MGCPL was awarded the P-1(C) bridge package contract by India’s National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) in August 2021 for Rs. 261.24 crore. Their responsibilities include constructing one prestressed concrete (PSC) and four steel truss bridges as part of the 87.569 km Package C6, which is being executed by Larsen & Toubro and runs from Vadodara to Ahmedabad.
