Plans afoot to rebuild New Delhi railway station on EPC model

The redevelopment plan of New Delhi railway station involving an estimated investment of ₹4,700 crore will be undertaken solely through government funding. The government has opted for EPC model contracts for station redevelopment instead of public-private partnerships in order to avoid putting the burden of user fees on passengers. Under the EPC contract, the government bears the financial burden of project development.

The masterplan includes commercial development, and the authority has already floated tenders worth ₹27,000 crore.
