MahaMetro has started work on the PMRDA’s detailed project report (DPR) for Shivajinagar to Loni Kalbhor metro line along with its extensions. Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority informed that the DPR was prepared by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the extension of the elevated Metro line from the ongoing Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar line-3 to Hadapsar-Loni Kalbhor connecting industrial areas Hinjewadi and Hadapsar and it now be merged with MahaMetro’s plan of Khadakwasla-Loni Kalbhor line.

The blueprint of over 45km metro stretch will have to be readied under the single plan after which it would have to be re-submitted to the DMRC and then to the Pune Urban Metropolitan Transport Authority (PUMTA) for its approval. The DPR for Shivajinagar to Loni Kalbhor was discussed and checked with the concessionaire, Tata Projects, whether they are willing to take the extension up to Racecourse on the same mode — 750V DC traction — besides MahaMetro is also carrying out the DPR for Khadakwasla to Loni Kalbhor. The extension will also consider the Saswad Road and Racecourse-Swargate spur, which is proposed to be connected to MahaMetro’s lines of Khadakwasla to Swargate and SNDT to Warje as well.
