The Maharashtra government has given the green light for the construction of the 12.77-km long Green Metro Line 11, an extension of the Green Line 4, which is currently being built from Bhakti Park in Wadala to Thane. The new line, costing Rs. 8,739 crore, will run partially underground, with 10 stations, including one on the eastern side of the CSMT. Additionally, the government has also approved a 9.2 km extension of Line 10, from Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk in Mira Road, which will have four stations and an estimated cost of Rs 4,476 crore. Once completed, the Green Line 4 corridor will be around 57.11 km long, connecting Shivaji Chowk, Gaimukh, Kasarawadavali, Wadala, and CSMT through 48 stations. The Aqua Line 3 corridor is also nearing completion, and will connect Colaba to Seepz in the western suburbs. At CSMT, a new underground station is being constructed as part of the Aqua Line 3 corridor, which will be connected to the existing pedestrian subway at CSMT. However, some transport experts have expressed concern over the need for the Line 4 extension, stating that an extension to connect the Eastern Freeway with CSMT would be more beneficial.
